IPCC, FIFA World Cup – Doha, Qatar

The NFIP network representatives from the 13 European countries who were qualified to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 contributed to the safety and security measures for the tournament. Approximately 100 European police officers, specialized in football policing, were deployed to Qatar, either in the International Police Cooperation Centre or as a part of the mobile teams who worked on the ground with the Qatari law enforcement authorities.

The Chair of the NFIP network, Mr. Adrian Dinca, was also invited by Interpol’s Project Stadia to support and contribute to the IPCC management team. This drew on the experience of hosting the recent EURO 2020 tournament, where the NFIP network managed the IPCC - via a joint management team made up of representatives from The Netherlands, Romania, and the UK - and hosted at Europol’s HQ at the Hague.

The IPCC Qatar 2022 was responsible for exchanging the information between the relevant stakeholders in regards to security arrangements for the tournament and overseeing the police spotters’ deployment during the World Cup fixtures in Doha.
